If you're tired of pulling the wingtip or cowl to change a burned-out 4509, this is the fix. It's a 4.5" PAR36 LED with two screw terminals, so it goes into the same housing and onto the same wires. The Spot puts out 2,300 lm and the Flood 2,200 lm, and either one pulls about 15W. It runs on anything from 10 to 30V DC, so the same lamp works in a 14V or a 28V airplane.

Will It Fit?

Check three things before you order:

• Your old lamp is a 4.5" PAR36. Ours measures 111.6 mm across and 43.4 mm deep.
• It's wired with two screw terminals. If you need bare wire leads instead, look at our PAR36 pigtail version.
• Your system runs between 10 and 30V DC.

Lamp numbers it replaces: GE 4509, 4595 and 4596, as well as 4313, 4505, 4587, 4591, 4593, 4594, 4627, 4631, 4632 and 5587.

Questions We Get a Lot

Does it replace a GE 4509 and a GE 4595?

Yes, as long as your light uses screw terminals. The 4509 is a 13V lamp and the 4595 is 28V. This one runs on either.

Will it put noise on my radio?

It's tested to CISPR 25 Class 3, and we haven't had reports of radio or intercom noise. A good ground and clean wiring still help on any install.

What if I hook it up backwards?

Nothing gets damaged. It just won't light. Swap the two wires and you're done.

Spot or Flood?

Spot goes in the landing light, Flood goes in the taxi light. If your airplane has both, order the Set and you'll get one of each.

Is it FAA or PMA approved?

No. We sell it for experimental and amateur-built aircraft, plus tractors, boats and other equipment. If you fly a certified airplane, talk to your A&P or IA before installing it.

How long will it last compared with a 4509?

It's rated for 10,000 hours. A standard halogen 4509 is rated for about 25.
